Ethernet

Also known as 10Base-T. A LAN architecture developed in 1976 to standardize the way network components interact with each other. The original specification allowed for star or bus topology, and supported data transfer rates of 10 Mbps. This became the basis for the IEEE 802.3 standard, which is still accepted and used in most networks around the world. Notably, newer versions of Ethernet (100Base-T/Fast and 1000Base-T/Gigabit Ethernet) have become more popular in recent years.
